Dr. Nicola Riccardi

 is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and recipient of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Global Fellowship (MSCA-GF, 2024–2028) for the project FAITHBALL hosted between UNIMORE and the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

He earned his Ph.D. in Contemporary History and Digital Humanities (cum laude, 2023) at UNIMORE, with research stays in Barcelona and Cergy-Paris. His academic interests span political history, discourse analysis, digital humanities, and the cultural dimensions of football.

Prof. Maria Chiara Rioli

is Associate Professor in Contemporary History at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where she co-coordinates the H2020 ITHACA project and directs the MA in Public and Digital History.

Her research spans religious history, migration studies, and archival practices, with a strong interdisciplinary orientation. A former MSCA Global Fellow, she brings extensive experience in international research management, digital humanities, and historical methodology to the FAITHBALL project.

Prof. Pablo Alabarces

 is Professor of Sociology at the University of Buenos Aires and one of Latin America’s leading scholars on football, culture, and politics. Author of landmark works such as Fútbol y patria and Héroes, machos y patriotas, he has shaped the field through pioneering research on nationalism, popular culture, and media narratives.

He has supervised more than twenty doctoral theses and regularly contributes to major academic debates across Latin America and Europe, making his expertise central to the FAITHBALL project.

Prof. Matthew Brown

is Professor of Latin American History at the University of Bristol and a leading specialist in the political and cultural histories of the region. His work explores transnational connections, identity formation, and the circulation of ideas across the Americas.

He has published widely, led major international research networks, and contributed to public-facing scholarship, offering FAITHBALL a crucial historical and comparative perspective on football, diplomacy, and Latin American societies.
